1) Ithaca: an ancient Greek island on the Ionian sea whose name is translated as "cheerful, just, or true colony"; home of the mythical hero Odysseus.
2) Ithaca, NY: the thriving cultural & educational center of New York's Finger Lakes region; the North American seat of his holiness, the Dalai Lama.
3) "ITHACA: a perpetual shredfest": A ROCK OPERA COMPOSED BY LPfunK, A NEW YORK-BASED ACTOR / MUSICIAN, AND PERFORMED BY HIS BAND, LPfunK & the Cheerful Colony.
ITHACA: a perpetual shredfest, follows the decade-long journey of a group of friends in their early twenties, beginning in late 90's New York City, amidst a thriving economy set in motion by advancements in digital technology and the internet boom. ITHACA is a sonic exploration of the raging parties, scenic road trips, and unconditional love affairs of a generation coming of age in the final phases of the analog/digital conversion; the last generation who grew up listening to records and tapes, dialing rotary phones, and writing letters by hand. ITHACA celebrates the magical state of never growing old, and never having to grow up, through a series of dynamic instrumental movements and catchy songs performed by a live rock band, featuring LPfunK (guitar, lead vocals), Deborah Smith (bass), Jason Gilbert (drums), Liz Hanley (violin) and Leyla McCalla (cello). Let LPFunK & the Cheerful Colony's ITHACA take you on a voyage to the outer reaches of who we are...
